A still, not a screen grab
The cover comes from the Pin instead of a photo of your screen.
Save the cover image from a public Pinterest video. Useful when you need the still, not the clip.
PinSaver is not affiliated with Pinterest. By using it you accept our Terms · Privacy Policy.
The still frame, without playing the whole clip.
Open the video and copy its link the same way you would for a download.
PinSaver
PinSaver loads the video and its cover frame.
720p · MP4
Saved to your Downloads folder (Ctrl+J or Cmd+J).
Use Download cover image. The MP4 is still there if you change your mind.
Sometimes the useful part of a video Pin is the poster frame: a recipe title card, a before-and-after, a diagram at the first second. PinSaver can download that cover without making you scrub a screen recording. Paste the video's Pin link and choose the cover image.
The cover is the thumbnail Pinterest attaches to the video, saved as a JPG through the same download path as any other file. On this page the cover is the primary button, and the MP4 stays available if you decide you want the clip too. Quality chips for the video are still listed, so you can see the resolution of the movie as well as the still.
This is the right tool for moodboards and reference decks, where a moving file is heavier than you need. It is the wrong tool if you hoped for a frame from the middle of the video. PinSaver does not pull arbitrary timestamps. You get the cover the creator's Pin already exposes, at the resolution that image is published.
The link rules match the rest of the site. One public Pin, including pin.it short links and country domains. Boards and profiles are rejected. Private videos do not reveal their covers. There is no account and no extension.
The image downloader is a better fit when the Pin is a photo rather than a video, because a photo has an original upload that is often larger than a video poster. If you paste a photo here, you still get the image. If you paste a video on the image page, you still get the file. The pages only change which result is emphasised.
Respect the still the same way you would respect the video. It is someone's work. Personal reference is fine. Republishing the cover as your own thumbnail is not. Creators can ask for a Pin to be blocked using the DMCA page, and PinSaver does not keep a copy of the image after your download.
The cover comes from the Pin instead of a photo of your screen.
Use the JPG when the clip itself is more than you need.
Switch to the MP4 from the same result if you want motion.
The same link you would use for the video works here.
Drop the cover into a moodboard or a lesson plan.
Whatever is burned into the frame stays in the frame.
A straight comparison
Three ways people try to keep a Pin. Only the differences that are actually true.
| PinSaver | A screenshot | Another app | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you keep | The file that was published | A picture of the screen | Depends on that app |
| Sound on a video | Kept when the upload has it | Lost | Varies |
| Quality you can read | Width, height, and format before you save | Whatever your screen is | Often unlabeled |
| Account | None | You are already in Pinterest | Often required |
| A whole board | Not offered. Open one Pin. | One screen at a time | Some claim it. We do not. |
| Private Pins | Not available | Only if you can already open them | Usually the same limit |
A screenshot is a photo of the Pinterest screen. “Another app” means a typical installed downloader, not a review of one product.
If something fails
01
A board address has no /pin/ id. Open one Pin and copy that link.
02
pin.it addresses work when they point at one Pin. If one fails, open the Pin and copy the long URL.
03
After the download, use Safari’s Downloads icon, then Share, then Save Video or Save Image.
04
A logged-out window is the test. If the Pin does not open there, PinSaver cannot fetch it.
05
If the upload is small, the choices stay small. Nothing is upscaled and labeled 4K.
No board scraping and no profile downloads. You paste a link you can already open.
The page works in the browser. There is no extension and no Pinterest login.
Media is streamed for your download and is not stored as a library.

Short answers for this tool. The full list lives on the FAQ page.
It is the cover image Pinterest published, which may differ from the MP4's pixel size. The video qualities are listed separately.
No. Only the cover image attached to the Pin is available, not a frame of your choosing.
Usually a JPG. The download uses that file directly.
An image Pin downloads as an image. For the largest photo, the image downloader is the clearer page, but the same box accepts the link.
Paste it on the home page. You get the file that was published, then it leaves with you.
