How to download Pinterest videos, images and GIFs

The same four moves work on a phone or a computer. The notes below cover each Pin type, each device, and the problems that actually come up.

Download a public Pin in 3 steps

No app, no account, just a link.

The 4-step method

PinSaver only needs the link to one public Pin. You do not install an app, and you do not sign in with Pinterest. If you can open the Pin without logging in, the tool can read it.

1. Open the Pin

In the Pinterest app or on pinterest.com, open the single Pin you want. Do not stop on a board or a profile.

2. Copy the link

Tap Share, or the ••• menu, and choose Copy link. You should get a pinterest.com/pin/… URL or a pin.it short link.

3. Paste it into PinSaver

Come back here, paste into the box, or tap Paste. PinSaver checks that the link is one public Pin.

4. Choose a quality and download

Pick a size if there is more than one, then tap Download. The browser saves the file to your device.

By Pin type

The paste box is the same on every tool page. The page you start from only changes which file is emphasised. These are the differences that matter once the result appears.

Video

A video Pin returns MP4 choices, usually with a 720p file when the creator uploaded one, plus any smaller rendition. Sound stays in the file. You can preview it in the result card before downloading, and you can save the cover frame separately.

Image

Image Pins prefer the original upload rather than the 736px picture in the feed. JPG, PNG and WebP stay in the format that was posted. Smaller widths are listed when the same file can be requested at 1200, 736 or 474.

GIF

Animated GIFs stay GIFs, so the loop still plays. If Pinterest also made an MP4 of that animation, it shows up as a second option. Use the GIF when you need the animation itself, and the MP4 when a video file is easier to drop into a slide.

Idea Pin

Idea Pins and other multi-page stories are split into one file per page, in the order they were published. Video pages and image pages are both listed. Download all starts the files one after another. There is no zip in this version, so your browser's download list is the bundle.

Carousel

A carousel is several stills on one Pin. Each slide is its own image with its own download. The order matches the Pin. Save the slides you want, or use Download all.

By device

iPhone and iPad

Use Safari. After Download, tap the Downloads icon in the toolbar (a downward arrow). Open the file. For a video, tap Share and choose Save Video. For a photo, choose Save Image. If iOS only offers Save to Files, save it there and open it in the Photos app or Files later. Chrome on iOS uses the same system share sheet.

Android

Use Chrome. The download notification appears as soon as the file is ready. Tap it, or open the Files app and look in Downloads. To see a video in Gallery, move or share it into the gallery app your phone uses. If Chrome asks for storage permission, allow it for downloads only.

Windows and Mac

Use Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The file lands in Downloads. If you do not see it, press Ctrl+J (Windows) or Cmd+J (Mac) to open the browser's download list. You can then move the MP4 or image wherever you keep references.

Fixing common problems

The link was copied from a board

Board URLs look like pinterest.com/username/board-name and do not contain /pin/. Open one Pin on that board, copy that Pin's link, and paste it. PinSaver does not download whole boards.

The pin.it link expired

Short links are convenient and sometimes stale, especially if extra text got selected with them. Open the Pin and copy a fresh link from Share. The long pinterest.com/pin/123… form is the most reliable.

The Pin is private

Secret boards and private Pins are invisible to PinSaver. The message you want is the one that says the Pin may be private, deleted or region-restricted. There is no bypass.

iOS saved the file to Files, not Photos

That is normal for Safari. Open the file from Downloads, tap Share, and choose Save Video or Save Image. If that action is missing, the file may be a format Photos does not import, such as a GIF. Keep it in Files, where it still plays.

The video has no sound

Play the preview on PinSaver first. If the preview is silent, the upload itself has no audio track. PinSaver does not remove sound. Check the volume on the Pin in the Pinterest app as a second confirmation.
